Weight Loss is a Journey Back to Your Dream
One day you wake up and your sexy tight jeans are in a black plastic bag bound for the Salvation Army Shop to adorn a slimmer user. You contemplate rescuing them for a day when you have rescued yourself from the clutches of the overweight doppelganger that has invaded you and filled you with self hatred while stealing your self confidence away.
How did it happen I guess is a perennial question but all questions serve to achieve is a looking back which in a sense gives us license to feel sorry for ourselves and do nothing about the present condition that is wrecking our chance for happiness in this short life that we have been gifted.
The answer as it so often is is to avoid like the plague any question that is past focused and only entertain questions that are directed to some place in the future.
Future bound questions help find and identify the goals and dreams that we carelessly misplaced all those yesterdays ago. You are not an overweight person you are a person who lost sight of your dream for yourself and because you have been so busy looking at why you have further lost contact with your dream.
The first step in real weight loss is to remember who you are. I did not say remember who you were. I said remember who you are. When you know who you are then you can set about regaining yourself.
A dream is a destination and like all destinations a dream requires a journey. A journey that is not planned and adhered to will result in bringing you anywhere but to your chosen destination. I like to say that if you don’t know where you are going then you will probably never get there.
So today you start your journey to you. The first step has nothing to do with diet or food or exercise. The first step is to acknowledge that you are overweight and that other than knowledge of your weaknesses it really doesn’t matter how this overweight you came to be. Step one is that the past is gone and all you have is today and the future today’s decisions can create.
- Banish all thoughts, questions and agonizing of how you became so overweight.
- Focus on questions that offer answers that will propel you to where you want to be weight wise.
- Use these answers to plot your course to your goal, dream and image of yourself in your new body.
The reality of being overweight is that in most cases it has very little to do with food. Weight gain has more to do with a decision to abandon the quest for your idealistic dreams and settle for mundane. In that settling things like overindulging in food and alcohol and other pain killers help us deal with the emptiness that our lives become with a dream to live for.
Never settle. Let your spouse or partner be angry and deal with their own inner life themselves. This is your life, and the time has come to live it. Hitch your wagon to a star and whether you choose to believe it or not the only star you are ever going to find is yourself.
The reality is that you became the overweight you that is staring hatefully back at you from the mirror because you decided for whatever reason to choose to follow someone else’s path.
You can only be happy in a relationship with someone else when you are first happy in the relationship that you have with yourself.
Choose this day to be empowered. Choose this day to take your discarded dream from the closet, dust it down and wear it proudly, after all it really is you. Only then will you be on the journey that is truly your journey to a you that is truly you.
